Thank you for changing the world with us in 2019

Dec 17, 2019 | News & Updates

On behalf of Empowerment Squared, we would like to sincerely thank you.

In 2019, we expanded our scope in Canada by growing our existing programs while also launching new initiatives including basketball, art, and makerspace programs for our youth participants.

We also brought exceptional speakers to Hamilton, such as Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee and Ndaba Mandela, and we deepened relationships with partners like Cadillac Fairview, Hamilton Community Foundation, United Way, McMaster University, Immigrants Working Centre, the Canadian Government, Intact Insurance, Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Law Foundation of Ontario and Ontario’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

This success has been possible as a result of thousands of volunteer hours and generous donations and support from members of our community like you.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. We look forward to continuing to grow with you in 2020.

Thank you for your help – today, and everyday!

Educational Programming

Over the last year, we supported over 275 newcomer youth and families with building
the tools and opportunities to thrive and contribute to our community, and expanded
our exceptional volunteer team to over 150 mentors.

Liberian Learning Center

After years of project development, we were incredibly proud to hold the official
groundbreaking ceremony of the Liberian Learning Center on October 14, 2019,
attended by community members and leaders from across Liberia and across the
world. The news was shared across national and international media.

Rotary International, Rotary Club of Hamilton, Rotary Club of Monrovia,
Paynesville City Corporation, mcCallumSather, and Hamilton Public Library
are now formal project partners. Shortly after, we were pleased to announce a
$100,000 commitment to the project from a Canadian donor.
