Supervised Programs

Removing Barriers

Our supervised sports and recreation programs include the Hamilton Downtown Sports League and Annual Community Cup Tournament. The program removes barriers that prevents marginalized youth and families from participating in meaningful sports and recreation activities for the development of healthy lifestyles. We use sports and recreation to develop constructive after-school activities for diverse groups of youth.

Soccer

The co-ed soccer program will begin on July 9, 2019 and will run through the Summer, ending on August 15, 2019.  This program promotes healthy lifestyles and skill building. Registration is mandatory.

 

In Person Registration:
Register by July 5, 2019 at Empowerment Squared office (162 King William Street, Suite 103, Hamilton, ON L8R 3N9)

Program Schedule:
July 9, 2019 – August 15, 2019

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Location: Corktown Park (Corner of Forest Ave and Ferguson Ave S)

Age of participants: 6 – 9 and 10 -14

Cost: FREE

A water bottle will be provided to each participant at the beginning of the program and snacks will be provided on the days of the program.  On the days of the program, participants must come prepared wearing appropriate clothing.

 

Art

The co-ed program will begin on July 9, 2019 and will run through the Summer, ending on August 1, 2019.  This art focused program is for children and youth to express their creativity. Registration is mandatory.

Community Cup

The event, in partnership with the Barton Street Festival is a free multicultural event centered in Hamilton that combines volunteerism and sport with community integration. The festival brings more than 20,000 people each year and the Community Cup features community-building activities, including live entertainment, soccer games, arts and crafts, Kids’ Zone and a community section where local agencies will be providing information regarding their services and programs.
