Empowerment Squared HOPE Graduation Ceremony

Feb 23, 2022 | News & Updates

HOPE is changing lives in Liberia – literally and figuratively. On Monday, February 28, 2022, 10:00 am, at Paynesville City Hall in Paynesville, Liberia, the official graduation ceremony of 86 participants of the Harnessing Opportunities to Promote Entrepreneurship (HOPE) program will be held.

ABOUT HOPE

Run by Empowerment Squared in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and local partners Rosetta Steps Education Center and Youth Crime Watch of Liberia, HOPE recruited 86 economically and socially disadvantaged Liberians to be empowered through financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills including counselling and the provision of seed funds to support their self-employment. This program builds on Empowerment Squared’s efforts in establishing the Liberian Learning Center. In class training has now been successfully concluded for 46 participants in Paynesville and 40 participants in New Kru Town over the last seven months.

GRADUATION DETAILS

All 86 participants will be graduating after seven months of intensive hands-on training to begin the journey of investing small seed grants to grow their businesses into sustainable-employment and income generation. Participants and their families, friends, supporters, and stakeholders will gather to celebrate their progress and opportunities ahead. Speakers will include trainers and representatives from Empowerment Squared, Government of Liberia, Paynesville City Corporation, Rosetta Steps Education Center, and Youth Crime Watch Liberia.
