A Letter in Honour of Dr. Juliet Daniel

May 9, 2026 | News & Updates

Dear Empowerment Squared Community,

Today, I write with a full heart, one that holds both grief and deep gratitude as we honour the life of Dr. Juliet Daniel, a cherished member of the Empowerment Squared family and a valued supporter of our shared mission.

Dr. Daniel did not simply live, she gave. Through the lens of UBUNTU, “I am because we are,” she embodied the sacred understanding that our humanity is fulfilled in how we pour into others. She offered her intellect, her compassion, and her presence in ways that were uniquely hers. There was only ever one Dr. Juliet Daniel, and there will only ever be one.

Her connection to Empowerment Squared was not transactional, it was relational. She believed in the work because she believed in people. Through her generosity and engagement, she contributed to a vision rooted in dignity, opportunity, and collective empowerment.

This moment is not only the loss of a professor, a scientist or a mentor, it is the transition of a rare and powerful spirit. A woman whose life reminds us that purpose is not defined by titles, but by how deeply we choose to serve.

As we hold her family and loved ones in our prayers, we have chosen to remember Dr. Daniel not in the language of loss, but in the language of gift. She has not been taken, she has transitioned to glory, leaving behind a legacy that continues to breathe life into generations.

She lives on not only in our hearts, but in classrooms, hospitals, research, laboratories, communities and in the many lives she shaped with intention and care.

Hamilton was honoured to be called her home. Barbados grounded her. And Africa gifted her the ancestral wisdom that guided her purpose.

In the culture of UBUNTU, we do not say goodbye, we say: Continue well.

Rest in power, Dr. Daniel.

Your life was not ordinary. It was a blessing to us all.

With respect
