Empowerment Squared’s ground-breaking approach to education and community-based Programs are empowering youth and young adults from marginalized communities to achieve academic success in school while facilitating access to post-secondary education. Working with various community partners, academic institutions, school boards, hundreds of diverse mentors and volunteers, Empowerment Squared is determined to break the cycle of poverty through access to education and the development of educational pathways.
Our school readiness initiative includes the Homework Circle and Young Scholars Programs which promotes academic excellence and provides one on one mentoring and tutoring while empowering youth and young adults from marginalized communities to achieve academic success in school and access to post-secondary education.
Our supervised sports and recreation programs include the Hamilton Downtown Soccer League, Community Cup and open soccer scrimmages all year year round for youth and young adults from marginalized communities. We use physical activities as powerful tools that transform the love for sport into a constructive after-school activity for a diverse group of youth.
For thousands in Liberia, a safe space to gather, learn, innovate and study is merely a dream. There is not a single public library in the entire country, there is only one textbook for every 27 students, only 33% of kids get to experience any form of consistent learning activity, only 22% of public and community schools have seats, literacy rate in Liberia is still among the lowest in the world and further devastation by the just ended Ebola crisis is still being evaluated.
WE CAN CHANGE THE STORY.
