hello everyone!
i hope you had a fabulous long weekend. i know i did and have the burnt legs to prove it. i went to the beach on monday and for some reason my knees are just incredibly sunburned. i promise to use more sunscreen in the future. note: vinegar does not work to get rid of the pain. it just makes you smell like vinegar.last week was an interesting one for us here at Empowerment Squared, as we were hiring our new wonderful interns for the summer (and maybe longer if they play their cards right)! we interviewed over 10 people (that may be way off) and it was certainly an experience for me to be on the other side of the table. i’ve been interviewed many times (and in many different ways) but i’ve never been the one asking the questions. basically, i was scared. i mean, who am i to interview all these talented people who are my age or just a bit younger? obviously when it was time for me to ask my first interview question i flubbed it and it came out something like, “i’m sure you’ve read our website and are all familiar with our website and stuff and things and all that so maybe…do you…what do you think about…what do you know about Empowerment Squared?”. charming! i warmed up a bit later on, but mostly let michael do the majority of question asking.
despite my lack of interviewer skills everything went smoothly. either way, hearing people’s answers to questions is always fascinating and it amazed me at the great things people are able to come up with on the spot. some of the suggestions people made about improving our organization will definitely be put to good use here. it was super difficult to pick from everyone, so we have more interns than we had originally were going to hire on since everyone was so great.
i wanted to do a shout out to everyone we hired, but that’s pretty much in michael’s portfolio and i wouldn’t want to step on his toes (he might attack me via blog if i do). so, i will end off my post by saying that i can’t wait to work with everyone this week and am excited at the growth of our little organization!
