CURE Canada announces name change
Posted in: News & Updates by Susan Phung on January 25, 2010

Hamilton, ON—Since 2007, CURE Canada has gone beyond helping underprivileged and refugee communities. From its diverse projects to unique partnerships, the organization has reached out to various communities, cultures, classes, and age groups – creating an empowering movement of helping people help others. Because of CURE Canada’s growth, the name no longer justifies the organization’s initiatives and efforts.
Therefore, the organization is proud to announce that CURE Canada has been officially renamed Empowerment Squared.
“It’s not a significant change but rather a sign of deeper transformation,” explains Leo Johnson, the organization’s Executive Director. “Since we are primarily focused on empowering people to create positive change in the local and global community, Empowerment Squared better reflects our purpose and direction. We weren’t sure how people would respond to the change but many have quickly gotten used to it.”
With help from Create Media, a design company in Hamilton, the organization has also rebranded its image.
However, don’t expect the organization’s values to change anytime soon.
“Even though we are no longer recognized as CURE Canada, our values of integrity, quality, and serving various communities remain the same,” says Johnson.
