Background of the 2017 of the Community Cup

  • The Ottawa Community Cup first began in 2005 as an initiative of the Host Program of the Catholic Immigration Centre (CIC), which works to integrate newcomers to Canadian cultural and lifestyle
  • The Program initiated the Community Cup to bring together community members and newcomers in the spirit of creating welcoming communities and facilitating friendships through the world sport of soccer
  • The Hamilton Host Program for the Community Cup is Empowerment Squared. The charity works with individuals and communities to effect sustainable change, supporting youth and individuals through academic mentoring, leadership development and access to sport.
  • Now in its fifth year in Hamilton, the Community Cup has grown to combine several other family fun activities; the unity and camaraderie involved in the soccer component brings different cultures together and facilitates teamwork, networking, and the creation of new friendships

Vision for the Community Cup
